MEET SeRENA RoBAR
Serena Robar spent her school days addicted to reading romances of all kinds. She would tuck a Romance in her open science book and pretend to be following along with class when she was really lost in a fantasy world of happily ever after. Though her knowledge of mitochondria is woefully limited, she can boast a vast array of trivia about the pirate trade of the 16th century, American pioneer life and Regency etiquette of the Ton.

Serena lives in the Pacific Northwest frantically writing her next YA book. It is Serena's hope that her work will find its way inside school books, sparking the imagination and talent of the next generation of writers. Her apologies to teachers everywhere.

SeRENA's Q & A
What did you do before you became a writer and why is being a writer better?
I used to run events and communities for large game sites, such as zone.com and playsite.com.  Like Mari, I am a total game geek.  Being a writer is way better because I get to work in my pajamas and people actually celebrate my oddness.

Growing up, I always felt a little different from everyone else. I went to a small rural school and no one wanted to know about the stories in my head or the characters from those stories talking to me.  I learned quickly not to share that kind of information :)  Being a writer liberates me.  I have found an entire community of people who are different, like me.  It rocks.

What's your fave movie or TV show of all time and why?
My favorite tv show was Firefly and Fox completely screwed the pooch by marketing it wrong and then didn't even show the pilot at the beginning.  So sad.  It was cancelled but then became a major motion picture called Serenity when the fans petitioned enough.  I love the power of the internet and like-minded people.  As for movies, I love teen movies.  Clueless is probably one of my favorites but I also love Period Adventure movies like Last of the Mohicans.  I am all over the place on that one I guess.
I am currently addicted to LOST, Bones, American Idol and Malcom in the Middle.

How do you know so much about teens?
Easy, I never grew up.  I am still a teen (in my head) my body is just too stupid to stop aging.  :)  And, I can still remember being a teen.  It was the toughest and most exciting time.  Feeling everything for the first time.  Nothing will ever feel as real and intense as your first love.  But then nothing will ever feel as intense and real as your first break-up.

Where do you get the ideas for your books?
There is a story everywhere, if you look with your story eyes.  My first book, braced2bite, began after I read MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series.  I wondered what it would be like to be a vampire and since I had 6 teeth removed for braces including my fang teeth, when I was a teen,  I began to wonder what it would be like to be a vampire without fangs.  Suddenly, Colby was born.
